Storage solutions that fit Synsam’s unique needs
Synsam's warehouse in Solna has a hundred metres of shelving filled with contact lenses, lens solutions and sunglasses ready to be sent out to customers across the Nordic region. To keep the warehouse tidy and organised, Synsam has invested in AJ Products' smart storage solution.
At the start of the year, Synsam launched an online shop for its products. And of course, a smooth-running online shop needs a well-organised warehouse. Peder Lanefelt, E-commerce Logistics Manager at Synsam, oversees all logistics for the new online store.
"Last autumn, I started thinking about which storage shelves would work best for our 400-square-metre warehouse. I wanted sturdy, space-saving shelves that would fit our storage boxes perfectly and avoid wasted space. That’s when I spotted AJ Product’s 120 cm-wide shelf, exactly the size we needed."
Customised shelves
Peder first spotted the shelves on AJ Product’s website, then got the chance to see them in action at a former colleague’s warehouse. The choice was clear. He booked a meeting with AJ Product’s project manager to discuss the next steps.
"We met to discuss our requirements and customised the shelves accordingly. Instead of the standard four shelves, we ordered seven, plus an additional shelf to provide dust protection for the products."
Once Synsam had access to the warehouse, the shelves were delivered. They had the option to assemble them in-house or have AJ Products do it. Peder and the warehouse team chose to assemble the shelves themselves, completing 100 metres of shelving in just one week. The process also doubled as a team-building exercise for the newly formed e-commerce team.
Shelves that fit the boxes
Synsam's online shop has now been running for a few months and Peder and the team are very pleased with their choice of storage shelves.
"For us, it’s crucial to have shelves that perfectly fit our cardboard boxes, as these boxes are specifically sized for the contact lens packaging. Consistent dimensions are key to keeping logistics efficient and profitable, and AJ Products helped us achieve exactly that!"
